CSG Wins FBI Contract: Federal and Remington to Supply Ammunition Worth $77.4 Million
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently awarded Federal and Remington Ammunition, both part of The Kinetic Group (TKG), which belongs to the CSG Group, one of the largest law enforcement contracts in TKG’s history. The contract is valued at $77.4 million.
Federal was selected as the sole supplier in all four requested rifle ammunition categories, including Duty, Training Reduced Lead, Non-Jacketed Frangible and Jacketed Frangible ammunition. (Note: Frangible ammunition is designed to break apart upon impact with hard surfaces, minimizing the risk of hazardous ricochets.) Remington, utilizing HEVI technology, will supplement deliveries in the Jacketed Frangible ammunition category. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2026.
“This is a tremendous honor for our company. All our brands are humbled and excited to build and deliver ammunition to the FBI. It is one of the most prestigious contracts ever awarded in our long-established company history,” said TKG CEO Jason Vanderbrink.
“To receive an award in all four categories is an accomplishment we are extremely proud of. It is also a great source of pride for our highly skilled employees dedicated to engineering and manufacturing the most advanced ammunition in the world,” Vanderbrink added.
In the Duty ammunition category, Federal will supply 5.56mm Premium Tactical Bonded ammunition loaded with a 64-grain (4.15 g) projectile. For Training Reduced Lead applications, Federal will supply 5.56mm Modified Jacketed Soft Point ammunition, also loaded with a 64-grain (4.15 g) projectile.
In the Jacketed Frangible category, Remington will supply 5.56mm lead-free Disintegrator ammunition loaded with a 55-grain (3.56 g) projectile, combining HEVI’s powdered metal core technology with a Remington jacket. In the Non-Jacketed Frangible category, Federal will supply 5.56mm Ervin BallistiClean RHT ammunition loaded with a 45-grain (2.92 g) projectile.
