They Didn't Stand A Chance: Ukrainian Defenders Obliterate Russian Infiltrators near Lyman
Ukrainian forces defending the strategic city of Lyman have successfully thwarted numerous attempts by Russian subversive groups to infiltrate its outskirts, demonstrating resolute defense in the face of relentless pressure. Over the past month, a dozen such groups, aiming to penetrate the city, have been neutralized, with all their members either eliminated or captured.
According to the 3rd Army Corps, these critical defensive operations are primarily unfolding in areas held by the 63rd and 60th brigades. Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky, commander of the corps, revealed that units are repelling an average of 40 enemy attacks daily on Lyman's periphery. "In particular, over the past month the enemy has made a dozen attempts to infiltrate in small groups on the outskirts of the city," Biletsky stated.
A recent success involved the capture of a Russian soldier from the 37th Motorized Rifle Regiment. "The enemy was quickly detected by our fighters. Part of the group was destroyed on the spot, and he was lucky to be captured and survive," a military source reported. This incident underscores the vigilance and effectiveness of the Ukrainian defenders in identifying and neutralizing threats.
Despite the enemy's continued pressure on Lyman across the "gray zone," Ukrainian forces have managed to stabilize the situation through constant detection and defeat of enemy infantry. However, a significant shift in enemy tactics has been observed, with a new focus southward between Lyman and Yampil, specifically towards the settlements of Dibrova and Stary Karavan.
In November, several enemy groups were detected and eliminated in these southern areas, particularly in Dibrova. The enemy's objective appears to be bypassing Lyman and expanding their operational area, actively searching for weaknesses in the Ukrainian defense lines.
Adding to the complexity, Deepstate analysts report an "unfavorable" situation east of Yampol. Here, the enemy is reportedly "getting deeper into the landings, setting up its positions there and making constant attempts to penetrate the village, in particular, taking advantage of the deteriorating weather conditions."
Despite these evolving threats, the determination of Ukrainian soldiers remains unwavering. Recently, more Russian invaders attempting to penetrate the villages of Stavky and Novoselivka, also near Lyman, were captured by soldiers of the 3rd Army Corps. The ongoing engagements around Lyman highlight the fierce and continuous struggle for control in this vital sector, where Ukrainian defenders continue to prove their resilience and operational prowess.
